The ancient practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine have helped millions of people regain and maintain their health. This system of medicine includes the practice of acupuncture and Chinese herbology, and is a comprehensive health care system encompassing a variety of traditional healthcare therapies that have been used for more than 3,000 years to diagnose and treat illness, prevent disease, and improve well-being. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institute for Health (NIH) recognize Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of many disorders.

Pediatrics
Typically children respond quickly to acupuncture treatments, and many show marked improvement in all areas of their daily lives. They often become more at ease, and their general behavior, spirit, energy and happiness come into a more balanced state, allowing them to better deal with the many transitions they are going through as their bodies develop and grow.
Geriatrics
Currently in the U.S. there are more people over the age 65 than ever before. While improvements in public health and nutrition have allowed many to enjoy better health into their later years there are still a great number of older people that suffer from any number of age related issues that compromise their health and wellbeing.
Geriatrics: Acupuncture and herbal medicine can be especially helpful for our aging population. There is no other age group that is as routinely overmedicated as the elderly. Older patients often take multiple prescription and non-prescription drugs so being able to safely manage specific disorders and on-going quality of life issues without piling new drugs on top of those already being taken is especially valuable when treating geriatric patients. Since acupuncture and herbs rely on natural, intrinsic resources, these are often safer options than manmade pharmaceuticals.
Traditional Chinese Medicine’s superior safety profile and gentle, natural, supportive therapies offer an important alternative to compliment modern medicine. Research has shown acupuncture to be an effective and cost efficient approach for many age-related health problems.
Acupuncture stimulates and facilitates the best use of the body’s natural resources, helping the body to better manage a wide range of disorders and improve quality of life. Enhancing wellness allows older adults to appreciate more of their “golden years” and to feel empowered about their health care. Chinese medicine offers a safe way to help our older patients cope with the signs and symptoms that often go hand in hand with aging and therefore it can also make a significant impact on a patient’s quality of life. In addition to acupuncture and herbal therapy, touch therapy is often used in the treatment of geriatric patients to help eliminate pain and promote a sense of wellbeing.
